Information about the specially formulated glue
Most importantly: The glue used by MAGNETOLINK is an extraordinarily formulated glue for the following reasons:
Ordinary double-sided tape is not suited for this kind of installation, because it may not hold over longer periods of time. Such an adhesive tape does not have the qualities that MAGNETOLINK has.
Also not suitable are foam adhesive tapes for this kind of installation.The components of such adhesives are: a layer of glue that is usually 50-70 µ thick, then a layer of foam that is usually 900 µ thick (usually a PE-foam that has no adhesive function) and then finally another layer of glue that is usually 50-70 µ thick.
The result is that only a very thin layer of glue is used in the actual adhesive process. Foam adhesive tapes are practical for uneven surfaces but tend to lose their adhesive strength over periods of time, due to restoring force. This restoring force results in a return to the original shape of the foam tape which reduces the strength of adhesion. For example, an adhe-sion made to a curved surface will originally stick to the entire surface. After some period of time, the curved adhesion can detach, reducing adhesion.
MAGNETOLINK uses only a layer of pure acrylate that is 1100 µ thick. The entire layer sticks to surfaces and does not suffer under restoring force. This means that the acrylate foam also binds to uneven surfaces without losing adhesive strength over time.
Benefits of our glue
Furthermore, the acrylate foam used by MAGNETOLINK can withstand extremely high temperatures. Conventional foam tapes only resist temperatures between 150°-170° F (or 65°-75° Celsius) whereby our acrylate foam can withstand temperatures of up to 320°-340° F (or 160°-170° Celsius).
Finally, the acrylate foam used by MAGNETOLNK does not contain any solvents. This has two benefits for you. Firstly, solvents can not penetrate surfaces, leading to a reduction in the adhesive function. Secondly, and maybe more importantly, the acrylate foam used by MAGNETOLINK is environmentally friendly, making it safe for you and your family.
More technical details about the MAGNETOLINK installation system
- The ceiling element consists of a circular plate made of zinc-plated steel. One side is covered with a solvent-free acrylate foam layer that is 1,1mm (1100µ) thick, used for applying it to the ceiling.
- The base element consists of a circular plate made of zinc-plated steel. One side is covered with a solvent-free acrylate foam layer that is 1,1mm (1100µ) thick, used for applying it to the smoke detector. The other side consists of a magnetic system allowing it to connect to the ceiling element.
